Well, it hasn’t yet been a full month here at The Socratic Salon, but it’s been a great one. We were a little nervous this was just a good idea on paper, but couldn’t be more thrilled with how fun it’s been. Thank you all for your tweets and shares—more definitely means merrier, and you’ve been so great in helping spread the word. It’s taken some organization and a bit of time but, barring any major disasters, here are the books we plan to break down in April:
April 8th – We Should All Be Feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
April 13th – Twitter chat with Claire Fuller (@clairefuller2), author of Our Endless Numbered Days – 7 pm EST – #TSSEndless
April 15th – Our Endless Numbered Days by Claire Fuller
April 22nd – How to Build a Girl by Caitlin Moran
April 29th – Dept. of Speculation by Jenny Offill
April is #NationalPoetryMonth and even though it’s a little outside our wheelhouse we’re going to give it a go. We hope you’ll join us in reading Citizen: An American Lyric by Claudia Rankine for a discussion in early May.
We’re also starting to bring guests into the Salon! Allison from The Book Wheel and Leah from Books Speak Volumes will be joining us in talking about Our Endless Numbered Days on April 15th. We would love to hear from a wide range of voices, so if you’d like to break down a book with us just let us know.
And finally, we’ve been tossing around a few titles for the future and would love your input. Remember, you can always throw your own ideas in the Suggestion Box!
[Thanks for voting in April! This poll is now closed, but you can vote next month.]
